Lamberts Linseed oil is an excellent alternative for fish oil. Up to 60% of the weight of the oil, extracted from the linseed, formed by alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and thus contains nearly twice as much Omega 3 fatty acids per gram of the weight than fish oil. Alpha-linolenic acid forms the basis of the group polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids. Alpha-linolenic acid can be converted by the body in longer chain fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosa-hexaeenzuur (DHA). Because it is very unstable, we cannot always be sure how much we get via the food. The linseed oil from Lamberts is cold pressed, to ensure that the quality is maintained. Linseed oil is also a valuable source of linolenic acid (LA), another major essential fatty acid that should be present in our food.
